James C. Baillie, Q.C. James Baillie has practiced business law
in Ontario with the firm of Torys LLP and its predecessors since 1963, apart
from the period 1979-1981 when he served as Chair of the Ontario Securities
Commission and subsequently as consultant to Continental Bank of Canada. He
is currently of counsel with Torys LLP. He was the initial Chair of
Canada’s Audit and Assurance Standards Oversight Council, relinquishing that
position in September 2008. He is a director of Sun Life Financial,
serving as a member of Sun Life’s Audit Committee, and as Chair of Sun
Life’s Risk Review Committee. Also a director of Decision Dynamics
Technology Ltd. (and Chair of the Audit Committee) and, in the
not-for-profit sector, a director of Bridgepoint Hospital, of Canada’s
National History Society and of Ditchley Canada.
